The Language of Flowers:

What Your Bouquet Might Say About Your Love Story

Before a single “I do” is whispered or a petal is tucked into place, your bouquet is already telling a story.

Not just any story-but your story.

The kind of story that starts with a spark, grows roots in late-night talks and inside jokes, and eventually blooms into something utterly beautiful: a lifelong connection. And right there, nestled into your bouquet, are tiny, fragrant chapters of it.

That’s the magic of flowers.
They speak when words fall short.

Each Bloom Has a Voice

Did you know that for centuries, flowers were used as a way to express emotions that couldn’t be said out loud? The Victorians loved this practice-called floriography-where entire courtships unfolded in bouquets passed between hands.

And while we don’t quite send secret love notes through lilies anymore, that hidden language still lingers in every petal.

Here’s a peek into what your bouquet might have been saying:

  • Roses (especially blush or white): timeless love, admiration, or new beginnings

  • Peonies: prosperity, romance, and the promise of a happy marriage

  • Calla Lilies: elegance and deep devotion

  • Ranunculus: charm and radiant energy (basically “I adore you” in flower form)

  • Lavender: calm, grace, and devotion

  • Baby’s Breath: everlasting love, innocence, and connection

And when you blend these together?
Your bouquet becomes a love letter written in blooms.

Why This Matters

When I preserve wedding bouquets, I don’t just see petals and stems- I see a snapshot of a couple’s heart. Every flower tells me something about what matters to you: maybe it’s your grandma’s favorite daisy tucked in the corner, the peony that made you cry at the florist, or a bloom that bloomed on your first date.

And that’s why floral preservation is so much more than just art- it’s storytelling.

Want to Know What Your Bouquet Was Saying?

One of my favorite things to do for my couples is to gently decode their bouquet’s message. Whether you chose each bloom intentionally or just followed your heart and Pinterest board, there’s meaning in the mix.

Let’s turn your bouquet’s quiet message into something beautifully everlasting.

Because long after the music fades, and the petals fall, the memory of that day still speaks.

And I’m here to help you listen.
